Individuals Urge to be Cautious of Fire Outbreaks

Individuals in the Society have been advice to always be Cautious and Proactive when it comes to Averting fire outbreak that could lead to Incessant Fire Disaster, so as to Prevent Lost of Life and Properties in our Community.

The Advice was giving during the 2nd Annual Built Environment Sustainability Public Lectures Organize by PROGENESIS FOUNDATION ( A Non- Governmental Organization, advocating for better built Environment) in Ijebu-Ode Local Government.

Speaking on the theme of the programme, "Incessant Fire Disaster: Implications/Way out on the built Environment, The Guest speaker,   Rector Federal School of Surveying Oyo, Dr (SURV) Lola Olayinka said Negative Effects of Fire Outbreaks Include Hazard to life and Properties, Atmospheric Pollution and water contamination adding that human beings are the main factors or causes of Fire as a result of human Activities.



" We human beings are responsible for it, We have people dropping cigarette Everywhere, Camp fire, Not knowing how to use fire Equipment, Bush burning, Using outdated wiring for our Electrical Appliances. If you look at the Natural Causes Lightning due to thunderstorms and Volcanic Eruption. When you look at all this causes, Then we can say how do we curb them. " Dr Olayinka Said.

Speaking on the preventive Measures, she said the Attitude to Maintenance, Especially fire at home or our cars to avoid fire, Individuals needs to have Necessary fighting Equipment Like fire Extinguisher and Fire Blanket and not having our cylinders at home but outside and have Attitude to perceiving hazard.

Also speaking at the programme, Deputy director of Ogun State Fire and Safety Service, ENGR. G A Adebambo said their is need to Enlighten Our people in the Society Especially on the Safety Measures to Prevent fire outbreak , Saying Government is doing is best on it through fliers and Jingles in other to orientate our People adding that is Agency is always alert 24/7 to come to rescue in case of any fire Outbreak.


His Counterpart from Ijebu-Ode Zonal planning office,  TPL Olagbenga Ashiru said Their should be Proactive measures to be taken during a fire Accident and also individual must learn how to give way for Official of Fire services to work In case of Fire Outbreaks.

Earlier in his welcome Address, The President/Founder of PROGENESIS FOUNDATION, TPL Olatunji Olagbenga said the Foundation is out and to promote the slogan " Our Collective Safety Begins at Home" which in turn implies that Every home should also play a role in the built Environment safety by having at least one fire safety equipment in our Homes.
