The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, has said it is essential for the management staff of polytechnics to shun sentiments in their approach to issues, face reality and ensure teamwork, in order to achieve more progress.
Mr. Fagbohun made this known in Abeokuta, while playing host to the members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP), D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic Chapter, Itori, led by its Chairman, Comrade Azeez Muritala.
The Head of Service stated that genuine collaboration and dialogue with the constituted authorities should be the watchwords rather than confrontation in resolving matters, urging the members of the Association to always recognise the right of the management and ensure that the lines of equity and partnership were maintained, to further promote peace and orderliness for the overall development of the institution.
"I charge you to give the management the chance to manage, know what is right and pursue it. Maintain the line of equity and partnership, as well as moderate your language and think about how the institution will grow", he advised.
Earlier in his submission, Comrade Muritala, informed the Head of Service of the tremendous achievements being recorded in the institution, appealed to him to help look into challenges bothering the union such as disparity between Higher National Diploma (HND) and BSc. holders, witch hunting, illegal suspension, favouratism in postings, among others.
Others in attendance were the Permanent Secretaries from the Ministries of Education, Science and Technology, Agriculture, and Forestry, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye, Mr. Sam Adeogun, Mr. Timothy Olatunji respectively, while the Permanent Secretaries in the Bureaux of Establishments and Training, as well as Service Matters, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, and Mr. Hammed Ojo and their Directors were also present.
