IJEBU NORTH LG PRODUCES A-DAY CHAIRMAN, AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORT



Miss Nasrat Oshinowo of Omo Edumare Model Nursery and Primary School, Ago-Iwoye, has emerged as "A-Day Local Government Chairman" after competing with 127 pupils from various primary schools across Ijebu North Local Government Area, as part of the activities making year 2025 children's day celebration.


Welcoming Miss Oshinowo to the Local Government Secretariat in Ijebu-Igbo, the council chairman, Hon. Bolaji Odusanya, noted that the initiative was the first of its kind in the local government, expressing optimism that the program would inspire pupils to take their education more seriously.


Hon. Odusanya emphasized that one of the cardinal objectives of his administration was the advancement of education, assuring that the Local Government would continue to provide the necessary materials and support for learners across the LGA.


He further announced scholarship support for the top five participants from JSS1 to SS3, including a people with special needs, likewise grant two scholarship requests to Miss Oshinowo and pledged to grade the road leading to her residence.


Earlier in the day, Miss Oshinowo paid courtesy visits to the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Razak Adenuga, and the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, Oba Jayeoba Adebajo. The royal fathers commended the council for initiating the project, describing it as a remarkable first in the history of Ijebu North.


They urged the local government to institutionalize the program and ensure it becomes a lasting legacy that can continue to motivate young people for years to come.


The day's activities also included a visit to St. John's Catholic Primary School, Oke Sopein, Ijebu-Igbo.


Miss Oshinowo, in her capacity as the A-Day Chairman, also met with the Legislative Council and visited various departments within the local government secretariat.


The top participants in the competition are as follows: Nasrat Oshinowo, Omo Edumare Nursery and Primary School (1st Position), Nosibat Adenusi, Igan Moslem School (2nd Position),  Fisayo Lawal, Imere Moslem School (3rd Position), Chika Oke, Laagan Methodist Primary School (4th Position), Samuel Hazzan, Saint Paul Nursery and Primary School, (5th Position (tie) and Goodnews Egbeola, Ade Okubajo, of the Visually Challenged Model School.
