PENSIONERS APPLAUD GOVERNMENT FOR DISBURSING N3.44B GRATUITY

Local Government retirees in the State have showered accolades and encomium on the present administration in the Ogun State, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun over the disbursement of N3.44B gratuity to retired Primary School Teachers and Local Government retirees.

In an interview with the  State Chairmen of the Pensioners' Associations namely; Local Government Pensioners Association of Nigeria (LOGPAN), Pastor Benedict Ademoye;  Association of Retired Primary School Teachers Ogun State (ARPSTOS), Mr. Zacheous Adekoya and Retired Primary School Teachers Association of Nigeria (REPSTAN), Mrs. Caroline Oguntola;  unanimously lauded the State Government for prioritising the wellbeing and welfare of pensioners, saying that they were satisfied with the  State Government continuous interventions, especially in the area of prompt payment of monthly pensions and quarterly release of funds to offset the backlog of gratuities.

They stated that the last disbursement of gratuity to retired Primary School Teachers and Local Government retirees in the last quarter of 2024, was N2.64B, noting that they were overwhelmed with the way  Governor Abiodun graciously increased the gratuity disbursement to N3.44B  in the 1st quarter of 2025, to offset inherited backlog from the previous administration.

The trio acknowledged the fact that pensioners in the State had never had it this good in terms of welfare packages, support, and persistent release of monthly pensions and gratuity disbursement to maintain their living standard, describing Governor Abiodun as their most cherished benefactor.

In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Local Government Pensions, Engr. Olufisan Osiyale said all these achievements were connected with the magnanimous gesture of Prince Dapo Abiodun, noting that his humane personality remained the driving force behind the successes recorded since the inception of his administration.

Osiyale posited that pensioners should bear in mind that their welfare was paramount and always on the front burner of the State Government's agenda, adding that the Bureau would continue to disburse their gratuity promptly once funds are available.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries of gratuity disbursement, Mrs.  Oluwatoyin Abegunde and Mr. Samuel Olusanya, said Governor Abiodun had demonstrated uncommon understanding and kindness towards the senior citizens, adding that they were extremely happy and would continue to support and pray for the success of his administration.
