The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has slammed a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George over his comment that he achieved a great height in his political career due to the party’s influence.

Speaking during a media chat at his residence, Wike also refuted remarks by the party’s top leader that he has benefited so much from the PDP.

Recall that George, during the heat of the crisis that rocked the sealing of the PDP headquarters by the FCT minister due to non-payment of ground rent, accused Wike of disparaging a party that made him who he is today.

The party chieftain also urged the Minister to show commitment and solidarity to the PDP by offsetting the years of ground rent owed the FCT Administration by the PDP.

However, in his response, Wike said George’s analogy about the role of the party in the political career of its members is wrong.

He said, “I read what he said, if an old man has no job, you sit down in your house and read newspapers. Bode George said PDP made me, PDP gave me a national name, I agree.

“Party cannot make you, you are the one that would make the party popular to win elections, party cannot say we are popular, it is you, the individuals that make the party to be popular.

“Look at it this way, I agree that the PDP made me, ask Bode George, whom did the PDP make in Lagos, if it is truly the party that makes. Who in Lagos did the party make since 1999, not one Assembly, not one House of Representatives member, not Senate, not anything,” Wike said.

He further called on the party chieftain to do well by naming one person – a member of the PDP – who the party made in Lagos State.

“And then, you are talking to me who has campaigned and worked for the party to be the major party in the state and at the national level. Meanwhile, in your own state, the party has never made anyone,” the Minister added.
