Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has further strengthened the State's Security Architecture with the recent employment of 550 new officers into the Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corp.
You may recall that barely six months ago, 690 newly trained officers were earlier employed into the Ogun State Amotekun Corps.
The Governor while speaking at the Batch E passing out parade ceremony of the Security Outfit, held at NYSC Orientation Camp Sagamu, noted that this sustained investment in the security architecture of the state further affirms his administration's resolve to protect the lives, property and prosperity of every citizen of Ogun state.
Represented by his Deputy Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Gov Abiodun added that the ceremony marks a defining moment in our collective pursuit of a safer Ogun state, stressing that his Administration’s Building Our Future Together Agenda places the safety of our citizens at the core of economic growth, social development and lasting prosperity.
The States helmsman informed that Corps was established to complement existing federal security agencies by leveraging Community Trust and local intelligence, saying this model of community policing continues to demonstrate its value as a key pillar in our security strategy.
According to him, Ogun State remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria, This outcome he said was a result of strategic planning, sustained investment and collaborative effort all in a bid to create an environment where people can live and thrive without fear.
Congratulating them on the successful completion of their training, he encouraged them not to see the passing out parade as merely ceremonial but rather a powerful affirmation of their readiness to serve and safeguard communities and the State at large, pointing out that the officers will be strategically deployed across the state.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Corps Commander, Amotekun, Brigadier General Alade Adedigba Rtd. said that the event was not only to celebrate the closing of another training of 550 out of 1500 corps approved by the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, but to commend the state government for its unwavering commitment towards enhancing the security landscape in the state.
While appreciating the state government for it efforts towards prioritising the security of lives and properties of citizens of the state through various security initiatives, provision of operational tools, as well as approving the recruitment of more personnel into the State Security network agency, with a view to strengthen the corps workforce, he noted that their operation at the Area J4 has stem the tide of illegal activities which has inturn help boost the socio economy development of the State.
He however, urged the newly recruited corps to work collaboratively and discharge their duties diligently.
