A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Jennifer Elohor has been invited by the First Lady of Anambra State, Nonye Soludo.
Mrs Soludo said she invited the NYSC member to sympathise with her over the assault meted out on her by operatives of the Agunaechemba Security Organisation also known as Udo-ga-chi.
Recall that Politics Nigeria reported that, about eight operatives of the state’s local security group beat up Elohor and stripped her naked over a purported allegation of her involvement with internet fraud (Yahoo Yahoo).
While the operatives involved in the assault of Elohor have been sacked, the Anambra state government announced on Wednesday that they have also been handed over to the police for prosecution.
In her reaction to the incident, Mrs Soludo said told with journalists that she has invited Elohor to the New Government House in Awka.
According to the First Lady, the meeting with Elohor will help to resolve the issue and comfort her.
She also said she intends to ensure that the unfortunate incident does not traumatise the NYSC member.
“I have called her and sympathised with her over the unfortunate incident and also invited her to the New Government House for a meeting to comfort her and ensure she is not traumatised.
“I was deeply disturbed by the way that lady was assaulted. There is absolutely no justification for such a cruel and humiliating act of abuse.
“I have reached out to the corps member to check on her well-being and extended an invitation to her. However, she informed me that she was currently not in Anambra. I asked her to contact me as soon as she returns,” Mrs Soludo said.
