Dr. Victor Oluwole Adefemi has been appointed as the Acting Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, effective August 1, 2025.
With the appointment, Adefemi is expected to provide academic leadership, oversee students' registration, coordinate examinations, maintain departmental records, and ensure the smooth running of all academic activities during his tenure.
Dr. Adefemi, an alumnus of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta, is bringing his wealth of experience in teaching, administration, and media scholarship to the new role.
His appointment reflects the university's commitment to quality leadership in academic departments.
Dr. Adefemi, a Senior Lecturer, holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from Olabisi Onabanjo University and has over two decades of lecturing experience spanning media practice and higher education.
He previously served at institutions such as Redeemers' University, Osun State University, Caleb University and Mountain Top University, where he led key projects and facilitated accreditation processes.
The Ekiti born scholar is renowned for his work in media technology, public relations and photojournalism, and has authored numerous journal articles, book chapters and a textbook. His research is widely cited across the globe.
The Ogun State trained media professional also brings practical industry experience, having worked in advertising, journalism and public relations.
He has at different times served on university committees, designed mass communication laboratories, and delivered guest lectures at professional forums.
Adefemi is a member of APCON, ACCE, NUJ, and other notable communication bodies.
Outside the academia, he plays an active role in community development and has consulted for World Bank sponsored health initiatives.
Dr. Adefemi’s appointment is widely seen as a strategic move to strengthen the department and enhance academic excellence at Ekiti State University.
