Former Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Ogun State, Engr. Olugbenga Olugbile, has called on members of the Nigeria Union of Tailors (Ijebu-Central) to continue supporting the present administration in the state, citing its commitment to grassroots development and the empowerment of artisans.

Engr. Olugbile, the Chairman of the Day, who was ably represented by Bishop Hon. Dr. Wasiu Olalekan Oluwatosin, made the call during the inauguration ceremony of the Zonal Executive Committee by the union’s central officers.

In his remarks, Engr. Olugbile commended the essential role tailors play in the local economy and encouraged them to remain united in supporting the initiatives of the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration, especially those focused on vocational skills development, job creation, and support for small-scale enterprises.

According to him, “The present administration in Ogun State has demonstrated a strong commitment to empowering the informal sector, particularly through skills acquisition programs and access to business grants. Your continued support will ensure the sustainability and expansion of these initiatives.”

He also lauded the government’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, expand access to credit facilities, and implement trade-friendly policies that benefit tailors and other artisans in the state.

Recounting his time as Council Chairman, Olugbile added: “I want to urge the Nigeria Union of Tailors to continue supporting the APC-led administration in Ogun State, with Governor Dapo Abiodun as our captain at the helm. Don’t forget that during my tenure as Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, your union enjoyed a cordial relationship with my administration. I also encourage you to give your full support to the current Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, who serves as your Grand Patron.”

In his response, the General Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Tailors, Ijebu-Central, Pastor Olalekan Adenuga, expressed appreciation for Engr. Olugbile’s goodwill message. He reaffirmed the union’s readiness to partner with the government in fostering economic development. 

Pastor Adenuga noted that the current administration has been particularly responsive to the needs of local tailors in areas such as market access, technical training, and equipment support.

The event also featured the official swearing-in of all zonal executives by the union’s central leadership, marking a new chapter in the union’s organizational development.
