Former Ogun Governor Gbenga Daniel Breaks Silence on APC Suspension

Former Ogun State Governor and Senator for Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has responded to his suspension by the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting he has not been officially informed.

His media aide, Steve Oliyide, said on Wednesday that the senator had not received any letter concerning the allegations of anti-party activities or the reported suspension.

Daniel’s media aide, Steve Oliyide, on Wednesday, said no letter had been delivered to the senator regarding the allegations of anti-party activities or the purported suspension.

His response came hours after the Ogun APC announced that Daniel and another party member, Kunle Folarin, had been suspended indefinitely.

The party’s spokesman, Nuberu Olufemi, disclosed that the action followed recommendations of disciplinary committees set up by Ward 4 and Ward 6 in Sagamu Local Government Area.

According to Olufemi, the committees accused Daniel and Folarin of anti-party activities and misconduct. The committees reportedly invited them to appear and defend themselves, but both failed to respond or attend the hearings.

In a statement ratifying the suspension, Ogun APC chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, said the indefinite suspension was to protect the integrity of the disciplinary process and ensure unhindered investigations.

Sanusi explained that the committees relied on witness testimony and documentary evidence, and further alleged that Daniel and Folarin attempted to intimidate party members and pressured them to withdraw petitions.

“The committees resolved to suspend the members indefinitely, pending further investigation and the outcome of the inquiry,” Sanusi said
