The Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, and the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa land, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle said consistent thriving of the journalism profession has contributed substantially to the overall development of the society and significantly underscores media importance in nation building.

Oba Olugbenle made this remark over the weekend in his palace in Ilaro, when he played host to the Executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council led by its Chairman, Akinwale Olanrewaju.

He urged media practitioners to continue to uphold the ethics of the profession and focus on reporting stories that foster national unity, enhance peaceful coexistence, and promote territorial integrity. 

The traditional ruler appreciated the NUJ Chairman for effectively representing the zone and projecting a positive image of the Yewa people, assuring his commitment to facilitating more developmental projects that would benefit the Council and its members. 

Earlier, the Ogun NUJ Chairman, Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju expressed gratitude to the paramount ruler for his unwavering support, insatiable quest for development, and unparalleled dedication to the advancement of Yewa land.

He emphasized that the Monarch's reign has been instrumental in mobilizing collective support for the region's growth and development while his leadership has fostered peace and unity, encouraging investment and progress in the area.

Comrade Olanrewaju, who disclosed that the visit was to seek for the Monarch's fatherly support, guidance and prayers, shared with the paramount ruler transformational efforts his administration has made, since assumption of office, towards changing the narratives which have brought about significant achievements  in the areas of infrastructural development, welfare of members and overall growth of the council.
