LG COUNCIL CALLS FOR SYNERGY AMONG SECURITY AGENCIES

 


In a bid to strengthen local security and ensure the safety of residents, the 10th Legislative Council of Ijebu-Ode Local Government has called for synergy among all security agencies operating within the area.


Making the call was the Leader of the Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Clement Olusesan Adenaike, during a series of courtesy visits to various security agencies within Ijebu -Ode.


The Leader of the House, called for improved coordination and collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local vigilante groups, and other security stakeholders.


Speaking during the visit, Rt. Hon. Adenaike stated that the purpose of the engagement was to solicit the continued support of security agencies in ensuring lasting peace across Ijebu Ode.


"The safety of our people cannot be compromised. We must foster collaboration, information sharing, and joint operations to address security threats effectively,” the Leader said.


Also speaking, the Deputy Leader of the Council, Rt. Hon. Adeshola Ogundare, noted that familiarity and direct engagement are essential in building trust and understanding.


"Facial recognition isn’t enough to know ourselves. This visit is an opportunity for us to understand the operations of various security agencies and how we can better support each other,” he added.


In their separate remarks, Majority Leader, Hon. Olayiwola Quadri Salami, and Hon. Akeem Allison commended the efforts of the security agencies in keeping every part of Ijebu Ode safe and secure.


In his response, ACP Yusuf Adesoye Wasiu, Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba Division, assured the Council of the command’s commitment to security.


"We will continue to work assiduously to ensure that offenders are brought to book without fear or favour,” ACP Wasiu pledged.


The familiarization tour included visits to the following security outfits: Sappers' Barracks, Ilese Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba Area Division, Ijebu Ode Amotekun Corps, Ijebu Ode Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), Ijebu Ode Nigeria Police Force, Obalende Division, Ijebu Ode


 


 


Earlier, visitations had been made to: Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe) Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) and Ogun State Fire and Safety Service
