OGUN SEALS FIVE COMPANIES FOR ASSAULTING, INFLICTING BODILY HARM ON LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS

Ogun State Government has sealed five companies and arrested some of their officials for assaulting and inflicting bodily harm on law enforcement officers and state government officials, while performing their official assignment.

The companies who all operates in the Ogere Axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway are DL Plastics Limited, Dyschenghan Plastics, SH Agricultural Limited, Beautiful Fibre Limited and Jincaicai Nigeria Limited.

In ordering their seal-up,  Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and Managing Director, Ogun State Waste Management Authority, OGWAMA, Hon. Abayomi Hunye said the five companies mobilised, assaulted and  inflicted bodily harm on law enforcement officers and state government officials from OGWAMA.

He said the officials were in their premises to seal them after several invitations and official letters were written to them to bring to their notices the serious environmental infractions they have been perpetrating through improper waste disposal, waste burning and refusal to patronize government- recognised waste collectors, an infraction that had caused serious harm, not only within their premises but, the immediate environment and the State at large.

"We have been on this case for the past six months. We have sent letters to them and invited them to let them know what they have done, but they refused to honor our invitation.

"After all these efforts proved abortive, we pasted notices of intention to seal them on the their premises, especially on the main entrance gates in the past three months, hoping that would prompt them to honor our invitation. They still refused to come, so last week Thursday, our officials sealed them by locking their entrance gates. But to our surprise, they did not only remove government seal-order, but they broke government chains used to lock them", Hunye revealed.

Hon. Hunye, decried the barbaric actions of the companies, said that by the time the officials revisited the companies again, as they have constituted themselves to environmental nuisance, the workers mobilized and beat up the officials, including the Law Enforcement Officers and inflicted bodily harm on them.

He added that the Ogun State government will not fold its hands and watch few relcatriant companies and their nationals carry out such dastardly act under the pretext of investing in the State as any of them caught will be prosecuted under the law of the land.
