Response to circulating statements by unknown persons attributed to alleging irregularities, favoritism, and financial inducements in the posting of Principals and Vice Principals by the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).
The Commission wishes to categorically state that these allegations are unfounded, misleading, and do not reflect the principles under which TESCOM operates.
For the avoidance of doubt, postings of Principals and Vice Principals are carried out strictly on merit, guided by verifiable records of service, vacancies in schools, and in line with established civil service rules.
We find it necessary to restate that TESCOM has a well-documented database of schools, Principals, Vice Principals, and teaching staff across the State.
This robust data has consistently guided decisions on promotions, postings, and redeployments. To insinuate that the Commission operates without records is not only inaccurate but an attempt to undermine the tireless efforts of dedicated education administrators.
The Ogun State Government, has continued to prioritise transparency, accountability, and excellence in the education sector. This commitment is evident in the recently concluded induction of Principals and Vice Principals, where due process and fairness were upheld without compromise.
It is also important to clarify that teachers and principals in Ogun State are beneficiaries of the Contributive Pensions Scheme, a nationally recognised system designed to ensure sustainability of retirees' benefits. It is therefore false and misleading for anyone to claim they will " go home with nothing" after years of dedicated service.
The Ogun State Government remains unwavering in its commitment to uplift education through continuous recruitment, training, promotion, and welfare of teaching staff. The OgunTEACh internship scheme and infrastructural interventions in schools across the State are testimonies to this fact.
We also wish to stress that TESCOM has zero tolerance for corruption or compromise of any kind.
The Commission operates an open-door policy where genuine complaints are investigated promptly, and any officer found culpable of misconduct is subjected to disciplinary procedures in line with civil service regulations.
The Board of TESCOM under the ever dedicated Chairman, Apostle 'Biodun Sanyaolu, has entrenched a culture of merit, transparency and fairness. This has been demonstrated on his assumption of Office as Chairman, through a WHISTLE BLOWER SCHEME to provide a safe and confidential platform for reporting misconduct, financial irregularity, etc on a HOTLINE :
081 - 4757 8497 (WhatsApp and SMS ONLY).
We therefore urge caution in making sweeping statements that may tarnish the reputation of TESCOM as an agency of government working diligently to improve education delivery in the State.
TESCOM remains unwavering in its resolve to ensure that postings and promotions are devoid of favoritism, undue influence, or financial inducement.
Our collective goal is to continue building an education system, as well as teaching and learning environment that upholds merit, integrity, and service to the good people of Ogun State.
Signed:
Apostle 'Biodun Sanyaolu,
Chairman, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission.
