The Ogun State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reaffirmed its commitment to sustain collaboration with the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board(OGMPWB) in sensitising intending pilgrims on the dangers of illicit drug trafficking.

State Commander of NDLEA, Commander Tijani Rabe, gave the assurance in Abeokuta while receiving the Executive Secretary of the Pilgrims Board, Alhaji Ajibola Taiwo and his management team.

Commander Rabe described the partnership between the two agencies as vital to ensuring that intending pilgrims were properly educated on drug laws in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. He cautioned pilgrims to be vigilant against unscrupulous individuals who may attempt to plant drugs in their luggages.

He further pledged to integrate the Board into NDLEA’s sensitisation programmes, which expose new methods being used by drug traffickers, stressing that the nation’s image is at stake whenever a pilgrim is caught with illicit substances.

In his response, Alhaji Ajibola commended NDLEA for its consistent support in enlightening pilgrims over the years, noting that preparations for the 2026 Hajj had commenced, while calling on the agency to remain actively involved in educating pilgrims ahead of the exercise.

“As a major stakeholder in Hajj operations, it is important that NDLEA is fully briefed about the 2026 itinerary and prepared to engage our pilgrims on drug-related issues,” Ajibola said.
