SUBEB BOSS TASKS HEADTEACHERS ON PUPIL-FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT





Members of the Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) in Ogun state have been enjoined to approach their duties with renewed passion, professional integrity, unwavering commitment, as well as create a pupil-friendly environment in primary schools.


The Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evang. Olalekan Ifede,  gave the charge in Sagamu during the Association’s State Delegate Conference themed, “Empowering Minds,Transforming Behaviors 21 Century Perspectives” said a pupil-friendly environment was important as the ability to read, comprehend and express thoughts effectively remained the bedrock of lifelong learning and the foundation for all other competencies.


The Chairman assured that Ogun SUBEB under the present administration was steadfastly committed to teachers’ motivation, capacity development and enhancement of conducive learning environments.


"Let us remember that education is not a task for the faint-hearted, it is a sacred trust asset to the State and the nation, let us therefore, teach with purpose, lead with empathy and serve with diligence," he said.


Speaking, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Moriamo Oloko, said transforming minds and empowering behaviour required collective efforts, adding that teachers, parents, policymakers and community leaders must work together to provide supportive environments, resources and opportunities for Pupils to grow.


Oloko who was represented by the Director of Education in the Ministry, Mr. Akindele Obadiah added that AOPSHON's role in shaping primary education was invaluable, urging teachers to continue to transform minds and empower behaviour, "Let us work together to create a brighter future for our children".


In his address, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ogun State chapter, Comrade Noah Sewakanu,  appreciated  the State government for improving  primary education, solicited for  more cooperation and support from AOPSHON, "your contributions will be instrumental in shaping the future of education in our State and ensure that our students are equipped to succeed in an increasingly complex world" .


Also speaking, Chairman, AOPSHON Sagamu Zone, Comrade Adenike Ogunbanwo described the conference as an opportunity where all stakeholders met to brainstorm on vital issues, exchanged ideas and discussed on ways that would  shape the future direction of the Association and Primary education in general .


In his welcome address, the Chairman, Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Jubril Odulate represented by his Vice, Hon. Isiaka Salami, who declared the event open, welcomed all the delegates and appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his laudable achievements in the State and for fulfilling his promises in the Local Government sector.
