Alhaji Akeem Nowoola Announces Loss of Two Family Members

Alhaji Akeem Nowoola, spokesperson of the Nowoola Family, has announced the passing of two prominent members of the family—Chief Moshood Igborodowo Nowoola and Mr. Biodun Nowoola.

The losses, which occurred within hours of each other, have brought deep sorrow to the family and their loved ones.

In a brief statement, Alhaji Nowoola expressed profound grief over the irreplaceable loss of Chief Moshood Igborodowo Nowoola (83), a respected Ijebu historian and socialite, and Mr. Biodun Nowoola (67), the last son of the late Chief Saibu Nowoola, owner of the historic Palace Hotel on Broad Street, Lagos—now the headquarters of UBA.

He described the deceased as pillars of love, unity, and support within the family.

According to the statement, Chief Moshood Igborodowo Nowoola was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites at Oke Eri, Ijebu Ode. Meanwhile, the remains of Mr. Biodun Nowoola have been deposited at the LASUTH Mortuary, pending the arrival of the family head (Olori Ebi), Otunba Gbolahan Abdulrafiu Nowoola, from the United Kingdom.

Late Mr. Biodun Nowoola lived in the United States for most of his life before relocating to Canada. He later returned to Nigeria, where he met his wife, Florence, in 2013.

Speaking on the circumstances surrounding his passing, Alhaji Akeem Nowoola said:

“My late uncle, Biodun Nowoola, was ill for 12 days and admitted to a private hospital. His condition worsened due to the doctors’ strike in Nigeria. He was later taken to LASUTH, where he was pronounced dead on the same day, December 11, 2025—just 14 days to his 68th birthday.”

Alhaji Nowoola noted that the memories of the departed would remain cherished and that their values would continue to guide the family during this difficult time. He appealed for prayers, understanding, and privacy as the family mourns, adding that further details regarding burial arrangements and funeral rites would be communicated in due course.

Following the passing of Mr. Biodun Nowoola, Otunba Gbolahan Abdulrafiu Nowoola has assumed the position of Head of the Nowoola Family as the next in line.

Friends, associates, and well-wishers have continued to send messages of condolence, standing in solidarity with Otunba Gbolahan Nowoola and the entire family. May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace.

When contacted by phone, Otunba Gbolahan Abdulrafiu Nowoola, the Kakanfo of Ilara, Epe, Lagos State, confirmed to our correspondent that he is making all necessary arrangements to return to Nigeria for the funeral arrangements of the two deceased family members.
