The Ogun State Government, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun, has affirmed its commitment to adhering strictly to due process in the installation of the new Awujale of Ijebu land, in other to ensure the emergence of credible leadership.
Governor Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, conveyed the commitment message during a closed-door meeting with Ijebu Ode Local Government Officials, Fusengbuwa Ruling House and the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
He asserted that the Awujale throne known to be a prestigious position, hence, the required meticulous attention, inclusivity and careful consideration it deserved.
"The government acknowledges the vacancy of the Awujale throne but will not rush the process of appointing a successor without thorough due diligence", he said.
Concluding, the Governor urged the public to remain patient and await official directives to initiate the process at the appropriate time.
The meeting underscored that the Obas and Chiefs Laws of 2021, which clearly delineated the powers and responsibilities of all stakeholders, along with the Chieftaincy Declaration, would serve as a framework to ensure a seamless and credible selection process
