OGUN ASSEMBLY COMMENDS OFFICE OF HEAD OF SERVICE ON REFORMS, OTHERS




The Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation has commended the Office of the Head of Service for its professionalism, prompt service delivery and strategic role as the engine room of government, describing its performance as critical to effective governance across the State.


The members of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, gave the commendation today when the State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya led other agencies and bureaux under his office to defend the 2026 budget proposals of his Office.


The lawmakers acknowledged the various reforms and programmes put in place by the office to enhance service delivery and aid good governance in the State.


They advocated for increased funding to the Office of the Head of Service to strengthen its capacity and enhance the discharge of its statutory responsibilities to aid service delivery in the next fiscal year.


Responding, the Head of Service, Mr. Onasanya, said the 2026 budget proposals of the different bureaux under his Office were deliberately anchored on capacity building, to deepen reforms and to reinvigorate the civil service to drive efficiency and improved service delivery.


According to him, "the State Civil Service would be marking its 50th anniversary next year, and the good news is that the State had been transformed from the usual civil service State to an industrialised State through the various socio-economic reforms and programmes of government".


Mr. Onasanya appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his visionary style in turning the State to an investment destination of choice through the promotion of infrastructure and investment incentives that had put the State on the front burner among its peers on the ease of doing business ratings.

 

He called on all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government to approach  the budget defence with transparency, integrity and accountability; noting that prudent financial management remained essential to sustaining public confidence.


Presenting the budget estimates of his Office, the State Head of Service proposed a total expenditure of ₦1.252bn,  comprising ₦291m for capital projects, with a sum of ₦748m being earmarked for overhead costs and ₦212m set aside for personnel expenditure, just as the projected revenue target for the next year stood at  ₦9.7m.


The State Head of Service was accompanied by Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishment and Training, Mrs. Lydia Bolaji  Fajounbo, her  Public Service Reforms counterpart, Mr. Jola Oyeneye mni, as well as Permanent Secretary Civil Service Commission, Mr. Soji Adewuyi, that of  Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Dipo Ogunfowora and his Bureau of State Pension, counterpart, Mrs. Arinola Adetayo and others
