The 3rd Edition of Annual Thanksgiving Service of Twon Brass Kingdom in Bayelsa State, South-South Nigeria, may have come and gone, but benefits and memory of the event’s outcome will remain indelible in the lives of the people.
The ceremony, “Twon Brass Thanksgiving Service,” with the theme: “The Lord’s Thanksgiving” (O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy endureth forever -Psalm 136:1 KJV), took place on the 30th of November, 2025 at Twon Brass Pavilion, opposite General Hospital, Abuja, Twon Brass Kingdom in Bayelsa State.
The Twon Brass Thanksgiving Service is an annual thanksgiving service of the good people of Town Brass Kingdom organised by His Eminence, King Alfred & Her Majesty, Queen Dr. (Barr.) Josephine Diete-Spiff in appreciation to God Almighty, for what He has been doing for the good people of Twon Brass Kingdom in Bayelsa State.
Speaking at the event, Her Majesty, Queen Evangelist, Dr. (Barr.) Josephine Alfred Diete-Spiff, JP,
wife of the first Governor of Rivers State and the Queen of Twon Brass Kingdom
(The Opuyingibo of Twon Ibe), as well as the President of the Excellent Women of Twon Brass Kingdom, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to God Almighty from the beginning to the end of the annual ceremony.
Her Majesty Queen Dr. Diete-Spiff, who is equally the President of the Queens of the Niger Delta Initiative, further enumerated God’s guidance, providence and mercy upon the people of Town Brass Kingdom over the years, hence the reason for the annual Thanksgiving Service.
She further used the medium to appreciate her lovely husband, His Eminence King Alfred Diete-Spiff, for the support and privilege to host the 2025 Twon Brass Thanksgiving Service, for the good of the entire people of Twon Brass Kingdom.
She equally thanked the people of Town Brass Kingdom, the traditional rulers of various kingdoms and communities in Town Brass and the churches that made the ceremony a success.
Speaking in a chat with Nigerian MomentumNews Online & Magazine, HRH Beinmoyo Rufus-Spiff (Cameron IX Amadabo of Cameron Ama), Twon Brass Kingdom, Bayelsa State, described the outcome of the Thanksgiving Service as ‘very impressive,’ pointing out that the community was happy with the turnout at this year’s Thanksgiving.
He was of the view that this year’s Thanksgiving was better than the previous ones, disclosing that plans are already on the way for next year’s event, which he believed would be far better than that of this year.
On the impact of the annual Thanksgiving to the people of his kingdom, HRH Rufus-Spiff opined that Thanksgiving is a people’s way of honouring God, adding that when a community decides to come together to honour their creator, the impact according to him, brings about peace, oneness, harmony and anything that has the attribute of God.
He maintained that the community has been peaceful, and that people are going about their businesses peacefully, which according to him, are some of the impacts of the annual thanksgiving service, which they are grateful to God for.
Responding to the efforts of the organizers of the 3rd Edition Thanksgiving Service, HRH Rufus-Spiff said: “They did their best and I believe we will do better next year. For Her Majesty, she really tried, because she was on ground for a couple of days before the event.
“Kudos goes to her, because she has been the one that is really, really backing and spearheading the programme. Thank God for a person like her to be our Majesty,; HRH Rufus-Spiff stated.
On his message to the people of Cameron Ama, HRH Rufus-Spiff stated that they are the aborigines of the community that are blessed by God. He thanked his people for coming out en-masse to ensure that the event was successful, and particularly to the young girls of Cameron Ama, who gave an excellent dance performance at the Thanksgiving Service.
While promising to personally do more for the betterment of next year’s ceremony, HRH Rufus-Spiff assured that the people of Cameron Ama will continue to give their best, for other communities to emulate.
The traditional ruler, who referenced a certain number of people in Canada, America, that started Thanksgiving before it went round America, noted that believing in thanksgiving by Americans, brought the country to where it is today, as a great country.
Speaking in an interview, HRH Rt. Hon. Israel Sunny Goli (Kemmer V Amadabo of Kemmer Ama), Twon Brass Kingdom, described the outcome of the Thanksgiving Service as “a huge success,’ because it was a thanksgiving to the Lord and the kingdom being a creation of the Lord, where they have lived peacefully for so many years, according to him.
He noted that the leaders and the people of the kingdom, having known that their existence is from the Lord, thought it wise to hold a thanksgiving service in His honour.
Comparing the previous editions of the Thanksgiving Service and the recently concluded 3rd Edition, the paramount ruler was of the view that the previous and current editions have been a huge success, pointing out that any area that is found not to be as expected in the last edition would be improved upon, come next year.
On the need for government support to have a better and bigger thanksgiving, come next year, HRH Goli, emphasised that it was already enshrined in the law of Bayelsa State, to hold her annual Thanksgiving Service every 2nd day of November, adding that government has been supportive to the Thanksgiving Service over the years in one way or the other.
To the organisers of the Thanksgiving Service, HRH Goli said: “Well, for Her Majesty, we will always thank her for leading the community to the Lord. Because, being a Queen that we have in the kingdom, she is always interested in the things of the Lord.
“That is why you can see everybody in the community coming out to support her, every year, and for the organizers, I want to thank them for doing a great job. We don’t have enough to give them, but the good Lord will reward them, for all that they have done so far, including Her Majesty,” HRH Goli stated.
The traditional ruler in his Christmas message, prayed for the goodness of the Lord to continue to shine upon them and equally wished them a Merry Christmas and prosperous new year in advance.
In the sane vein, His Highness Golden Sinteh, the Secretary to Amanyanabo in Council, Twon Brass Kingdom, Bayelsa State; described Twon Brass as the first place that a church of God was built in the history of Bayelsa State, which implies that the people have a relationship history with God.
He stated that the Thanksgiving Service reignited the excitement of the people as they were once again, brought together as a people, to thank God for the numerous things He has done for them, as they look forward to the next edition of the programme.
Comparing between the current and previous editions of the Thanksgiving Service, Highness Sinteh said that the recently concluded edition of the Thanksgiving Service was well attended, compared to the previous ones, pointing out that the event brought about re-connectivity of the people with their ancestors, who sacrificed a lot for the existence of the people.
He equally lauded Her Majesty Queen Dr. (Barr ) Josephine Diete-Spiff, for bringing a guest preacher, in the person of Pastor Dr. Sam Seth Eyedoude, whose sermon at the event, resonated the people’s spirit, and made them feel the presence of God in the course of the event.
On the need for collaboration, His Highness Sinteh opined that peaceful environment provides for unity and development, hence the need to bring onboard, both indigenes and non indigenes from different states are residing in the state, as well as government and oil companies operating in the area, to be involved in plan and activities of the next edition, which plans have already kick-started, according to him.
On his word to His Eminence King Alfred Diete-Spiff, Highness Sinteh said: “My word to the King is to thank him for his seriousness, courage, support and concern for the programme. You know, during the first edition, he knelt down in the presence of everybody to beg for forgiveness upon the land.
“I must commend him for reigniting the spirit of the people and making the whole world know that all traditional rulers are not fetish in nature, and that God remains the supreme being, and I am happy about that.
“I commend other traditional rulers that are taking the Thanksgiving Service seriously, the women and the youths for the excitement and expectations in the next edition,” Highness Sinteh stated.While speaking on the need to work on the arena of this year’s Thanksgiving Service to give it a befitting status come next year’s edition, Highness Sinteh in his words of commendation to Her Majesty Queen Dr. (Barr.) Josephine Diete-Spiff further said: “Her Majesty has been the cornerstone, if she had agreed with the obstacles she had on this particular one, we wouldn’t have had a nice occasion. In fact, it wouldn’t have even come to be.
“So, I want to sincerely thank and pray for her too, that God will continue to use her the way He has been using her to carry on with this project. It is a project of God and she has been the one to pioneer it, and I jealous her strength. I really jealous her strength for standing on the side of truth, that this thing ought to be done. I really want to thank her and pray for God’s protection and guidance for her, that at the end of the day, all glory and honour is ascribed to God, for her strength on this particular issue,” Highness Sinteh prayed.
On his Christmas message to the people of Twon Brass Kingdom, Highness Sinteh charged the people not to forget where they are coming from, while celebrating, but to ensure that everything has to be done to the glory of God.
Speaking in a chat, the Executive Vice Chairman, Brass LGA, Bayelsa State, Hon. Mrs. Juliet I.O Russia, described the outcome of the ceremony as awesome and something remarkable.
She expressed her joy to Her Majesty Queen Dr. (Barr.) Josephine Diete-Spiff, who, in collaboration with her husband, His Eminence King Alfred Diete-Spiff, vowed that the Twon Brass Thanksgiving Service is held annually.
The Council Vice Chairman equally thanked God for having Queen Diete-Spiff in Twon Brass Kingdom, describing her decision to carry out the annual Thanksgiving Service to the kingdom, as courageous and fear of God.
She however, used the medium to enjoin women in other communities to emulate the good gesture of Queen Diete-Spiff, adding that such gestures will go a long way to transform and shape the communities for the good of all and sundry.
She further stated that the impact of the annual Thanksgiving Service has brought about light, peace and as well, helped to bring the people closer to God.
The Vice Chairperson maintained that the impacts of the Thanksgiving Service were evident in the community, especially on the part of the youths, as there are no issues of violence or restiveness in the area.
On what the local government is doing to impact on the people, using the medium of the annual thanksgiving service; Hon. Russia disclosed that the local government chairman, Hon. Lucky Segbo, did the needful, by supporting the programme of the just concluded thanksgiving service and ensuring that the programme went well.
In her goodwill message, Hon. Russia called on all and sundry indigenes of Twon Brass Kingdom, both at home and in the diaspora, to give their unalloyed support to the 4th coming edition of the annual Thanksgiving Service in the year, 2026.
She in the same vein, called for more financial support from the local and state governments, and oil companies operating in the community, pointing out that business and development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.
Hon. Russia was optimistic that the aforementioned collaboration, if achieved, would help to engage more ministers of God, gospel artists and the presence of more churches in the 4th edition, since the Thanksgiving Service is a non denominational one.
She equally suggested that it would be nice to have a legislation at the local government that would empower the council, to financially support the annual Thanksgiving Service, even after they leave office.
On her part, Her Highness, Mrs. Josephine Remi Douglas, wife of late Highness, Chief C.F. Douglas-James Spiff and the former Regent of Ada Ama, Twon Brass Kingdom, said that the annual Thanksgiving Service was a blessing from God, as each and everyone that attended the event had a feeling of the presence of God.
She opined that it has been recorded that the Spirit of God visited Twon Brass, and the people would attest to the goodness of God at the event.
Her Highness Remi Douglas, further maintained that the blessing of God upon the people was made manifest through Her Majesty, Queen Evangelist Dr. (Barr.) Josephine Diete-Spiff, whom God spoke to, concerning the annual Thanksgiving Service.
The wife of former Amadabo of Ekperi Ama, also affirmed that this year’s Thanksgiving Service had a massive turnout, compared to the previous ones, and used the medium to call on the people of the kingdom to use the season of December, to embrace God.
While Mrs. Mildred Egele, former women leader and Trustee of the Excellent Women of Twon Brass Kingdom in her response, affirmed that it was “The Lord’s Thanksgiving,” and that the Lord perfected his presence at the event. She was of the view that many of the participants were blessed at the event, as they look forward to hearing testimonies on what happened that day.
The Excellent Women Trustee in her comparison, admitted that the just concluded 3rd Edition of the annual Thanksgiving Service was better than the previous ones, affirming that it will always get better.
While maintaining that the 4th Edition would be exceptional and mind blowing, Mrs. Egele opined that they cannot count their blessings, but can count their sorrows and challenges, hence the reason to commend the organizers of the programme, for a job well done, and prayed to God, to give them more insight to come up with more ideas like this.
On Her Majesty Queen Evangelist Dr. (Barr.) Josephine Diete-Spiff; Mrs. Egele said: “I pray that God should give her more revelation of his word. God should strengthen her. God should reveal himself, so that his mercy will be upon her, so that she can increase and bring more souls together to the Kingdom of God.
“God should open doors for her and bless everything that she does for a living, Amen,” Mrs. Egele prayed.
In her goodwill message, the former women leader wished the people of Twon Brass Kingdom a Merry Christmas in anticipation and prayed to God to use the Thanksgiving programme to open more doors for them.
“Let them know God, and God to reveal himself, and above all, I pray that Twon Brass will be more united in one spirit, so that the highland will move forward.
“I want to use this opportunity to pray for his Royal Majesty King Alfred Diete-Spiff, that God should strengthen him, God should enlarge his coast in the name of Jesus. God should bless him with more wisdom to lead Twon Brass to the promised land,” Mrs. Egele further prayed.
Pastor Dr. Sam Seth Eyedoude, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Chairman, Bayelsa State, was the Guest Speaker at the event, while dignitaries, respected traditional rulers from different kingdoms in Bayelsa State, and beyond graced the Thanksgiving Service.
