NEW AKALAKO TASKED ON SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The new Akalako of Aiyepe in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Ibukun Adewale Gbadebo have been charged to consider his appointment as a call to duty towards facilitating rapid socio-economic development of the entire Aiyepe town.
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, gave the charge at the installation and presentation of staff of office to the traditional ruler at Aiyepe Comprehensive High School, Aiyepe.
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko urged the monarch to mobilize the people to participate in self-help projects with a view to complementing government’s efforts irrespective of their religious beliefs or social status.
‘’In view of his position as custodian of the people’s customs, traditions and cultural heritage, I implore you to accord Oba Ibukun Adewale Gbadebo all necessary respect and co-operation to ensure social mobilization, community development and effective governance at the grassroots.’’ the Governor noted.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government Area, Hon. Olawale Shittu, appreciated the Governor for granting approval for the appointment of the traditional ruler, enjoining sons and daughters of Aiyepe to key into the agricultural sector to generate employment opportunities for the teeming youths of the town.
In his remarks, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona represented by the Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Yinusa Adekoya tasked the new monarch to co-operate with the Ijebu traditional council to bring about unity, progress and stability to the entire Ijebuland.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Gbadebo appreciated the State government, the Ijebu Traditional Council and those who contributed to the process that led to his enthronement, pledging to harness his experience for the growth and development of the town.
