In continuation of the distribution of second phase palliative assistance to the people, Ogun State Government has promised reaching out to all targeted people, as it distributed relief packages to
Para-athletics, senior citizens in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of the State, assuring that the third phase will covers the youth.

Speaking while handing over the packages, representative of the State government, the Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor and Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, noted that the global enormity of the pandemic and several media reports on the challenges posed
by the situation, even in developed countries, necessitated these strategic measures of containing the virus.

The Commissioner stated that, since the index case was reported in the state, government has been proactive, with availability of health care facilities to tackle the virus and had also embarked on massive public campaign to educate the people about the pandemic, which he noted has no respect for social status, religion or age.

“On palliatives, the state government has given 500,000 households in the first phase, through self-help by well-meaning Nigerians, Ogun state indigenes and corporate organizations. These palliatives were
meant for the poor, aged and the vulnerable. And I can assure you that the youth and other segment of the society will not be left out in the third phase’’, he noted.

Okubadejo appreciated corporate organisations for their support at this critical period, as well the citizens of the State for adhering strictly to the laid down rules, calling on other well-meaning individuals
to render assistance, as government alone cannot do it.

According to him, “we opened a website for every person to put in whatever contribution they can afford. We also decided to setup bank account for people to contribute because it’s something government alone cannot do’’.

He advised the people to continue to adhere strictly to the measures put in place by wearing of facial mask, washing of hands regularly, making use of sanitizers, as well as ensuring social distancing.

Similarly, the senior citizens of Oke-Irojo Residents Association
also in Ijebu-Ode Local Government had benefited from the State government’s Covid-19 relief package, to alleviate the effect of the lockdown.

Appreciating the state government, representatives of the Para-athletics and Oke-Irojo Residents Association, Mrs. Oladipupo Oluwakemi and Alhaji Lasisi Oresegun respectively, said the relief package would be adequately distributed.
