Ogun State Government is set to collaborate with traffic agencies and security operatives to find lasting solution to the incessant gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr. Femi Ogunbanwo stated this during a meeting with traffic agencies and security operatives in Abeokuta, assuring that more State’s traffic personnel would be posted on the Highway, while also considering synergy with Julius Berger Construction Company for construction of an alternative route.

In his contribution, the State Commissioner for Transport, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, emphasised the importance of the road, as it links Ogun to other States in the country, saying the State Government would collaborate with transport agencies to regularly sensitise road users and motorists.

In his remark, the Sector Command, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commandant, Ahmed Umar, noted that the current gridlock being witnessed by commuters would cease on completion of the Highway, commending the collaboration between the personnel of FRSC and other agencies to help maintain law and order on the road.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commandant and Chief Executive Officer, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Commander Seni Ogunyemi, urged government to motivate the personnel with more incentives, as well as make provision for more logistics to enhance better performance.

The Assistant Commissioner (AC), Operations, Nigeria Police Force, ACP Muyideen Obe, said he was pleased with the collaboration, commitment and enthusiasm of all the stakeholders involved in minimizing gridlocks, as well as safety of lives and property in the State, noting that there was need for swift response to emergencies on the road and enjoined road users to obey traffic rules at all times.
