"Break barriers, emulate good virtues from Adewale,” TESCOM Boss Charges Students

Students have been charged to break down the walls of laziness and procrastination whilst emulating positive traits that would ensure they excel academically and secure their future in any career they may choose.

The Chairman, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede made this call during his keynote address on " The Winning Attitude Beyond the Four Walls’ at the maiden edition of Adewale Students’ Conference organized by Sustainable Economic Development Initiatives for African Communities.

Founded by Michael Adewale Adesanya, a former student of the Mayflower School Ikenne who won numerous laurels for the State as a student, SEDIFAC also seized the opportunity to launch, "Adewale My Mother's Son," Michael’s recently published his childhood memoir.

Evangelist Ifede, whilst speaking at the Indoor Hall, Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu in Ogun State, venue of the event, said the Nigeria we are does not support laziness and shallow minds.

He said for students to stay relevant and succeed beyond the four walls in their academic pursuit, they should always think out of the box irrespective of the experience gained from their teachers, guardians, or any of other members of the public.

Urging other educational Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)to emulate SEDIFAC for the support given to the Author of the Book, Ifede said students should also learn from Adewale’s gesture of giving back to the society where he started from.

The Chairman said he is very optimistic that students would be more encouraged to pursue their dreams with this initiative, saying that the theme of the event, “Beyond the Walls” is very apt and instructive.

"Attitude means the way you feel about something or the way you behave towards something… Our mandate today is to put up behaviors or a thinking cap that will break any barrier that designed to stop us from being successful in life. That is, developing a winning attitude to achieve great results irrespective of any situation," Ifede said.

Also speaking at the event, Mr. Michael Adewale Adesanya encouraged students not to give up on their dreams, urging them to make education number one priority as well they strive to be good to mankind.

While appreciating the State Government for maintaining the standard of education in the State, Michael, urged other philanthropists, home and abroad, to make it a point of duty by assisting the less privileged students who have performed brilliantly in their academic pursuit.

Other highlights of the event include cash awards to the best performing students in the live online quiz. All the attendees were each gifted a copy of Michal Adewale Adesanya’s memoir. Schools and teachers were also all recognized for their commendable efforts in imparting knowledge to their students.
