Women of child bearing age in Ogun State have been told to embrace modern contraceptive methods and disregard all forms of misinformation associated with it. 

    Some Family Planning service providers  gave the advice  during a media facility tour to Primary Health Care Centers (PHCs) in  Abeokuta and Odeda Local Government Areas of the State, affirming that  the methods had  been proven to be  cost-effective.means of childbirth spacing. 

     A Principal Nursing Officer and FP service  provider at the Obantoko Health Center, Mrs. Aderonke Adelabu pointed out that adopting modern family planning suitable for women would allow her space children wilfully, with the strength and  resources to nurture them properly. 

Adelabu noted that the cultural beliefs, myths and misconceptions were mere fallacy, which have no basis. 

According to her, '' use of any  modern contraceptive methods will help couple or families decide on the number of children and the intervals between them. Family Planning is  beneficial to the mother, child, family and the society at large. 

'' There is no orta of truth that FP causes obesity, infertility, excessive bledding among other myths and misceptions making around'', Adelabu clarified. 

 On her part, the Reproductive Health Coordinator in Odeda Local, Mrs. Mopelola Odesesan stated that women who are willing to access FP should  seek right information from government hospitals and PHCs, cautioning them  to desist from unconfirmed information, '' saying childbirth spacing helps  in making financial and social plans which will improve the quality of lives they get. It is  devoid of any health complications except if it is done by unqualified person''.
