OGSG CONDUCTS DIGITAL LITERACY TEST FOR PUBLIC SERVANTS, OTHERS

 


The Ogun State Government has put in place a literacy capacity assessment test for public servants and students, in order to know their level of digital competence and further develop them through various information technology training programmes.


 The Director, Information Technology, Bureau of Information Technology (BIT), Mrs. Olatundun Adekunte made this known during an interview with OGIS Correspondent in Abeokuta on a 5- day Digital Literacy Capacity Assessment for public servants and students who were randomly selected from government agencies, parastatals and tertiary institutions, organised by the State Government in collaboration with the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission.


Adekunte pointed out that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration was determined to digitise most government activities, to reduce stress among its workforce, cut unnecessary delay in job delivery, safe cost of running governance and increase Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).


“This programme is aimed at testing the capacity level of participants, to help        plan on how best to improve their competence in their various duty posts, towards boosting the digitalisation process of the present administration in the State”, she said.


          Some of the participants, Mrs. Tawakalitu Anifowose and Mr. Lekan Odufeso lauded the efforts of the State Government for the programme, saying it would make government work easier and faster.


Meanwhile, Mrs. Adekunte has assured that State Government would continue to support initiative on the youth information technology, to allow them contribute to the advancement of the country.


Adekunte who is also the State Chairman of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), revealed this at the Crescent University, Ayetoro road, Abeokuta, during the 11th Annual Information Technology Development conference, with the theme; Pragmatic Digital Health Technologies for Control of Diseases.
