CZECH REPUBLIC DONATES MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO OGUN HOSPITAL

 


        The Government of Czech Republic has donated a 12-bed Intensive Care Unit, equipped with neonatal incubators, children's crib, generating set and phototherapy machine valued at N194m to the General Hospital, Ijebu-Ife, in Ijebu-East Local Government Area of Ogun State.


       Speaking at the handing over of the medical equipment, the Czech Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Zdenek Krejei said that the spread of COVID-19 is still very strong in Czech and some other countries, hence the need for the government of Czech to donate sophisticated equipment to support the State government, adding that Ogun is the first to receive the intervention out of the three States earmarked in Nigeria.


  Krejei commended the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration for creating a conducive environment for Public Private Partnership to thrive, saying government did not interfered in the selection of a suitable location for the intervention.  


        In his address, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun appreciated the country for identifying with the State, noting that the people of Czech Republic and the citizens of Ogun State share a common practice of communal living and self-help and has become an easy-decision for the two countries to see themselves as partners in the continued and successful implementation of the ‘Building our Future Together’ agenda.


         “This gesture has shown that we have continued to reap bountiful harvests from our sincerity of purpose in our PPP approach to develop all sectors of the economy and improve the welfare of the people of our dear State,” he said.


        The Governor, represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele emphasised that the recent upgrading of hospital facilities across the State, was to ensure enhancement of the people’s wellness and wellbeing, as it pertains to providing better life for its citizenry.


       In her remark, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, said the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government has made the State conducive for partnership, calling on other philanthropists and organisations to emulate the gesture, assuring that the equipment would be used optimally.


       In his goodwill message, the Chairman, Ijebu East Local Government, Hon. Wale Adedayo said the project is to offer quality health services for the people of Ijebuland and the State at large, adding that the donation was indeed a great one and a way of contributing towards the development of the area.


        Responding, the Head of the Hospital, Dr. femi Osisanmi lauded the government of Czech Republic for donating the intensive care unit clinic, saying it came at a time the hospital was in need of such facility, for the treatment of the masses
