SCHOOLS ADMINISTRATION: OGUN WANTS SCHOOLS OWNERS TO ADOPT DIGITALISED EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

Ogun State Government has advised private school owners and administrators to adopt digitalised educational system so as to remain relevant, meet up to the 21st Century move and benefit from the endless list of opportunities in the digitalisation agenda of the present administration in the State.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu gave the advice, during a meeting with executive members of Associations of Approved Private Schools on Digitisation of Approved Private Schools Learners’ Data for Web-based Opportunities on Ogun State Education Revitalization Agenda (OGSERA) Platform for effective planning, administration and advancement of education in the State.

Prof. Arigbabu pointed out that the role of the government is to monitor and efficiently cater for all learners in the State, either from public or private schools, hence the need to incorporate those in private schools into the education planning process.

He highlighted some digitisation processes in the education sector embroiled in OGSERA including; automated sales of screening and transfer forms, Basic Education Certificate Examination registration, e-dossiers, remote learning, and many more, positing that integrating the private schools into the programme would help to utilise the limitless opportunities inherent on the platform.

“Our private schools cannot afford to lag from benefiting from the endless list of opportunities in the OGSERA agenda to cater for learners in the sector. We have set modalities in place to work hand-in-hand with stakeholders in the private schools, to capture the needed data to put them at par with their counterparts in the public schools”, Arigbabu submitted.

He revealed that the Ministry has put in place modalities to synergies with stakeholders in the private school sector to capture the needed data, to put private learners at par with their counterparts in public schools, noting that through the use of technology, problems such as school registration, students’ indiscipline, policy, and regulations as well as examination and planning would be tackled and resolved.

In his welcome address, the Director, Department of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Ezekiel Adewumi explained that the OGSERA platform harbours all the modules in the digitisation agenda, which would be used to transact all educational businesses of the State with ease and administrative efficiency.

He disclosed that on the platform, there are approved curricula, scheme of work, effective teaching and learning tools, testing and evaluation, reporting, analysis, and storage of test results, saying it would help managers of education to key into global best practices.
