PREACH AGAINST CULTISM, OTHER VICES, ABIODUN CHARGES ISLAMIC CLERICS

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on religious leaders in the country to continue to preach against youth involvement in social vices, as it is capable of destroying their future.

Abiodun said this in Abeokuta during the breaking of fast (Iftar), organised for the State League of Imams and Alfas, noting that many youths are deeply involved in vices like cultism, cybercrimes, kidnapping, hence, the need for religious leaders to continue to speak against it.

The Governor said cultism had taken over every facet of the society, including primary and secondary schools which is not acceptable, maintaining that a lot of youths do not want to work even when they have the opportunity to engage in legitimate ventures.

"We are coming up with a law that will make landlords who accommodate cultists lose their houses. Our State is the religious capital of this country where prayers are answered. This should reflect on our children. Please continue to preach and pray for our youth", Abiodun advised.

Governor Abiodun charged the Muslim faithful to uphold the virtues of holiness, forgiveness, and tolerance garnered during the month of Ramadan and make them their watchwords so that their fast would not be in vain.

"Forgive those who offend you as stipulated in the Holy Quran. As Muslims, please let us uphold the virtues of tolerance, holiness, and forgiveness so that our fast and prayers will not be in vain. We should not do this only during this holy month of Ramadan, but endeavour to make it a daily affair”, he noted.

He said his administration is keeping to its promise by giving equal attention to the developmental needs of every part of the State, assuring that the government would make the State better than it met it.

Prince Abiodun called for continued prayers for the peace and development of the State and nation, particularly now that politics has started in earnest as "the business of governance is not for government alone".
