BE ROLE MODEL TO STUDENTS, PS CHARGES NEW INTER-CADRE STAFF

The new inter-cadre staff transiting from the level of non-academic to academic position has been advised to act as role models to students under their watch.

The Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, Dr. Abdulwaheed Olanloye stated this in Abeokuta, while addressing officers in transition, saying it was vital that they acquaint themselves with the rudiments of the teaching profession to enable them to impart quality knowledge to students.

Dr. Olanloye added that immediately they qualify as teachers, good character, diligence, and neat apparel, among others, must be a prerogative goal, saying they would be a source of emulation to the students in the various schools posted to.

He advocated that reading culture should be an integral part of teachers’ duties, to develop the standard of education in the State.

“As teachers, it is imperative that you are articulate and knowledgeable because some students are very intelligent in academics and vocational duties, which implies that you must know your onions and be ready to defend yourselves when the need arises”, the Permanent Secretary said.

In their responses, some of the new inter cadre staff, Mr. Kareem Fatai and Mrs. Morufat Morakinyo said their decision to change cadre was in pursuit of professional dexterity, through additional qualifications for efficient service delivery.

They commended the State government for reforming the education sector and improving teachers’ welfare.
