Determined to make Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) in the 236 wards across the 20 Local Government Areas of Ogun State more functional, Commissioner for Health, Dr.Tomi Coker, has said government would intensify efforts to renovate the facilities to standard. 

 Coker gave the assurance during a media chat with newsmen in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta,  revealing that almost 100 Centers had been renovated, as the move would provide good ambiance and psychological motivation for the personnel, particularly the newly recruited medical practitioners, to enable them deliver efficient and effective health care services to the grassroots.

 She said,  "the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun promised the citizens of affordable, efficient, and qualitative healthcare services, which he has continued to do alongside the renovation of dilapidated PHCs across the State, to create a conducive environment”.

  In his contribution, the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr.Elijah Ogunsola said upon the completion of the renovation, the Centers would provide improved access to healthcare services for the residents.

 Ogunsola noted that many ailments could be addressed at the primary healthcare level by decongesting the secondary and tertiary health facilities, saying,  "upon completion, the efficient primary health care vision of the State government for the people would have been fully realised".
