The environmental sanitation exercise in Ogun State will hold tomorrow, Saturday, September 24, 2022, between 7.00 and 10.00, with no restriction of movement across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Engr. Rasaki Ojetola, residents are enjoined to use the time to clear their drainage channels, premises and dispose of waste accordingly at designated points for easy pick-up by government-accredited waste collectors.
The statement further revealed that all waste collection and equipment of the Ogun State Waste Management, (OGWAMA) would also be on duty to complement the effort of Private Sector Participants (PSP) in various communities to collect waste generated during the exercise.
It stated that anyone found dumping waste inappropriately would be prosecuted in accordance with the State Environmental laws, calling for the resident’s continuous support in maintaining cleanliness and a safe environment.
All Local Government officials and advocacy groups on environmental sanitation are also to take charge in their localities to ensure the smooth running of the exercise.
