'PUT NATIONAL CONCERNS ABOVE PERSONAL GAINS'

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has charged the residents to put national concerns above all personal gains, as the nation celebrates its National Day.

Governor Abiodun gave the charge during a Special Jumat Service at Central Mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta, heralding the 62nd Independence Day celebration, noting that such could help maintain peace and harmony in the State and the country at large.

Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Abiodun revealed that for continued sustainability of Nigeria's nationhood, “every player has a chance to prove themselves by rising above individual ambitions, which in turn will make the country come out stronger in its diversity”.

He added that the current administration was committed to ensuring all-round development and even distribution of resources as indicated in its ‘ISEYA’ mantra, reiterating that “no part of the State will be developed at the expense of another”.

While praying for peace in Nigeria, the Governor admonished the indigenes to come out and elect their representatives while coordinating themselves in an orderly manner in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

In his sermon, a Muslim cleric, Imam Taofeek Amolegbe, said Nigeria was blessed with human and natural resources as the driving force of the nation, urging Nigerians and those in government to live in peace and harmony, as well as have a good attitude towards one another to make the country develop more.

Earlier in his address, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, expressed gratitude to the leagues of Imams and Alfas in the State for their continuous prayers towards the unity and development of the country.

A highlight of the event was reading from the Holy Qur'an and special prayers for the Governor, State and the country.
