OGSG COMPENSATES WINDSTORM VICTIMS

 



          In fulfillment of its commitment to the welfare of the citizens of the State, the Ogun State government has given financial support to the victims of windstorm which occurred recently in Ososa, Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State.


          Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan, while presenting cash to the victims, stated that the compensation was to give timely succour to the people affected by the disaster, having assessed the damages the storm had caused.


          The Commissioner who appreciated the people for supporting the administration's agenda to develop the State, also assured that Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration would not rest on its oars to provide infrastructure and give necessary support to the people to ameliorate their challenges.


          Ilori-Oduntan who advised the victims to make prudent use of the money educated them on the importance of planting trees in their houses, schools, along roads, and others, emphasising that the damages caused by the windstorm would have been averted if there were trees planted in the environment.


          Earlier, the chairman, Odogbolu Local Government Area, Hon. Ladejobi Shuaib reiterated the State government's commitment to the welfare of the people of the state, promising to make provisions for different types of trees to be planted within the council area.


          Director, Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (OGSEMA) Mr. Wale Shonde, while urging the people to continue to collaborate with the State government emphasised the need for regular maintenance of buildings, in order to be able to bear harsh weather conditions.


            In their separate remarks, two of the beneficiaries, Mr. Museliu Adeshina and Mrs. Esther Badejo, lauded the State government for deeming it fit to compensate them, appealing to the government to do more.
