OGUN ASSEMBLY SCREENS GOVERNOR ABIODUN’S NOMINEE FOR CUSTOMARY COURT OF APPEAL PRESIDENT




Ogun State House of Assembly has screened the nominees of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the position of President, Customary Court of Appeal, in the State, Honourable Justice Adebisi Femi-Segun, commending her nomination as a worthy nominee who possesses the competence and  virtues to occupy the position.


The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, stated this while presiding over the screening session, which had in attendance the Chief Judge of the State, Honourable Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.


Elemide in company of other honourable members said the nomination of the acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal was a right step towards rewarding diligence in public service. 


He challenged the nominees upon confirmation by the House of Assembly to embrace innovation in service delivery and embrace the principle of fairness in justice dispensation while being meticulous. 


In her remarks, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi, described the nominee as a good ambassador of the State and the right choice to occupy the position.


Earlier while speaking on her work experience, the nominee, Justice Adebisi Femi-Segun, an indigene of Ilaro, had her secondary education at Yejide Girls Grammar School, Ibadan between 1972-1976, she later proceeded to Methodist Girls High School, Yaba and Abeokuta Grammar School where she sat for her HSC between 1976-1978 and 1978 -1979 respectively. 


She had her NCE from Lagos State College of Education between 1979 and 1982 before she left for the University of Ife to obtain LLB in 1983-1987 which led her to the Nigeria Law School, Victoria Island in 1987. 


She started her career with private practice and later the Federal Ministry of Justice in 1995 till October, 1996, before joining the Lagos State Judiciary as a Magistrate Grade I in November 1996, from where she rose through the rank to become a Deputy Chief Registrar (Admin) in 2014. She was appointed a Judge in the Ogun State Customary Court of Appeal in December, 2019, thereafter sworn in January, 2020 before her emergence as the Acting President of the State Customary Court of Appeal in February, 2023.
