The outstanding performance of Pupils especially at elementary schools has been ascribed to resourceful policy of the present administration on education.
The Chairman, Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Jubril Odulate, stated this at a School competition tagged: “Unleashing the Hidden Gem, “Talent exhibition“ organised for Public Primary Schools in Sagamu by a Non-Governmental Organisation, Teach for Nigeria, at the Wesley Primary School, Oko 2, Isale Oko, Sagamu.
Hon. Odulate appreciated the Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration for its giant strides in education sector, saying that developmental policies have attracted various NGOs to partner with the State, towards supporting the building our future together agenda of the present administration.
“The achievements recorded so far in our elementary schools are due to the revitalisation initiative of the present administration in the education sector, which had attracted stakeholders and NGOs to support the government in its mission to enhance the education sector,” he said.
In her remarks, the Head of School Services, Sagamu Local Government Education Authority, Mrs. Rabiu expressed delight over the efforts of the Governor in creating enabling environment for both teachers and learners to bring out the best out of the pupils, appreciating the teachers for their unrelenting efforts in preparing the learners for the competition towards achieving the best for their locality.
Mrs. Rabiu applauded the learners for their performance, urging the teachers to continue to put in their best as there is always a reward for excellence.
In her keynote address, the programme Director, Mrs. Bosede Ogidan said every child is a hidden gem, appreciating the school leaders, teachers and parents for discovering the hidden talent in each learners.
Mrs. Ogidan said that the purpose of the competition was to showcase the various talents embedded in the pupils, which included, singing, dancing, drawing, and artwork, among others.
“Excellence is not limited to books and grades, a child who can dance, a child who can sing, draw, tell stories that make one to laugh, these are not extras but essential parts of who we are as a people,” she said.
The programme Director admonished the learners to nurture their God given talents, thanking the teachers for their unrelenting support for bringing out the best out of the pupils.
The outcome of the competition had Local Government Primary School as 1st position, Wesley Primary School came 2nd and St. John Primary School 3 Ogijo with 3rd position
