In a bold move to end ten years of blackout in Ogun Waterside Local Government, Hon. Joseph Folorunsho Adegbesan, Member of the House of Representatives representing Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, has announced a N500 million electricity restoration project, scheduled to commence in June 2025.
The announcement was made during the 6th coronation anniversary of Oba Kazeem Adeshina Salami, the Osobia of Makun-Omi Kingdom, which coincided with the annual Okosi Festival.
“This is a promise long overdue, and I am fully committed to seeing that Ogun Waterside enjoys electricity once again,” Hon. Adegbesan stated. “Work will begin by June 2025, and we will deliver.”
In addition to the power project, Hon. Adegbesan pledged his full support towards the construction of a permanent pavilion for the Okosi Festival, describing it as a key cultural heritage with growing national and international interest. He also made a financial donation to support the 2025 edition of the festival, reinforcing his commitment to cultural preservation.
In his remarks, Oba Kazeem Adeshina Salami commended the lawmaker’s leadership and dedication, describing him as “a legislator with capacity and moral excellence.” The monarch encouraged citizens to prioritize integrity and competence in selecting public office holders.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries including Hon. Ganiyu Adetoye Odunoiki (Chairman, Ogun Waterside Local Government), Oba Bola Raimi (Alarige of Ibiade), Oba Samson Agbojo (Liken of Iwopin), Alhaji Shakirudeen Folorunsho (Alhaji Agba), Professor Segun Awonusi, Professor Oluwakemi Adekola Busurat, and Hon. Ekundayo, among others.
