Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker who represented tge Kaduna Central Senatorial District has said that Bill Gates deserves the National Honour Award given to him by President Bola Tinubu.

In a post on X, Sani said the businessman believes in Nigeria and her people.

He stated that despite several negative things said about Nigeria as a country, Gates has continued to invest his wealth voluntarily towards mitigating the challenges faced by the nation.

Sani wrote on X, “When many bad things are said about our country, yet Bill Gates believes in us and voluntarily spends his wealth to improve the lives of our people in both the North and South of the Country.”

He added that Gates has refused to believe or dwell on reports of Nigeria being riddled with activities of online scammers and their likes.

He noted that while other international billionaires chose other causes, Gates has kept faith with Nigerians.

“He refused to believe that stigma about a nation of princely online scams, drug peddling and corruption.

“Other US Billionaires chose other causes and countries, but Gates kept faith with us over the years.

“Many bad things have been said about his gesture, but he never minded or retreated. He deserves the National honours conferred on him for being a good friend to this country,” he said.

Recall that President Tinubu honoured Gates at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, Abuja, on Tuesday, June 3.

Gates has been instrumental in improving the health of women and children across the country.

His foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation focuses on various issues of maternal and child healthcare, nutrition, and education among many others.
