The Commander General/Chief Executive Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, (TRACE), Commander  Olaseni Ogunyemi has disclosed  that the introduction of 24hrs operational services across  the 18 major traffic corridors in the State  have helped in reducing road crashes to barest minimal.

Commander Ogunyemi  made this known during a Press  Conference organised as part of the activities marking TRACE at 20, as well as celebrating the 10th Annual TRACE Commanders’ Conference and the Retirement of TRACE Commander General held at the Agency's Headquarters, Abeokuta.

According to him "introduction of the 24hrs operational services through the TRACE Special Operation Force Unit, TRACE Whistle Blower Initiative and the TRACE Emergency Traffic Services (TETS), have contributed to prompt and timely response to rescue and emergency services, which had led to 41.1 percent reduction in total number of crash cases, 31.25percent reduction in total number of fatalities as well as 29.49percent in the total number of serious cases".

Ogunyemi revealed that, he had successfully expanded TRACE Area Commands to 27 operational Commands, 12 Deputy Area Commands and 8 Corridor Commands, across the geo-political traffic pattern of the State, adding that, TRACE traffic control points across the State 18 major traffic corridors were upgraded and revitalised from a state of quiescence.

The Commander General, added that the Agency had helped to create a strong social network within the operatives and the larger society through the introduction of TRACE half hour on OGTV and OGBC, Daily Traffic Situation Report, Jingles, Road Show and the activity of the TRACE Band.

He maintained that the methodology adopted in clearing obstruction had rejuvenated the response time now to between 5 to 10 minutes which had helped in improving access to commerce and industry for investment.

He further disclosed that the agency since inception had exposed officers to different categories of human capital development workshops to advance their capacity for effective service delivery.

He also appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his unflinching support, and approval to recruit one thousand additional operatives in order to boost the capacity of the agency.
