The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has officially presented Certificate of Return to the winner of the recently concluded councillorship bye-election in Ward 1, Yewa South Local Government Area, Mrs. Adebunmi Adekanbi.
Presenting the certificate at the Commission's headquarters in Abeokuta, OGSIEC Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu commended all stakeholders for their dedication to the democratic process, praising the orderliness and discipline exhibited by voters as well as electoral officials during the election.
Congratulating the councillor-elect, Osibodu urged her to justify the confidence reposed in her by the people of Yewa Ward 1.
"Do not disappoint the trust and faith your people have placed in you. I pray that you will not fail in the task ahead of you", he stated.
In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Adekanbi expressed deep appreciation to the Governor Dapo Abiodun, whom she described as a pillar of support and a true champion of grassroots governance.
"Today is not about my victory, but the triumph of democracy and the will of the people. This win is just the beginning of a greater journey of service. I stand with humility and promise to be a servant-leader, operate an open-door policy, and work tirelessly to bring development, unity, and progress to our ward", she said.
Reacting, Hon. Olabisi Okeowo, former Majority Leader of the Ward lauded OGSIEC for its professionalism and thoroughness before, during, and after the election, noting that the peaceful conduct and transparency of the process were strong indicators that "democracy is winning in Ogun State"
