Former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has launched a fresh attack on his longtime rival, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
Speaking at a meeting of APC stakeholders in Kano, Ganduje mocked reports that Kwankwaso and his loyalists might be considering a return to the ruling party.
According to him, it would be ironic for Kwankwaso to retrace his steps after repeatedly condemning the APC.
“We’ll welcome them like madmen back to vomit,” Ganduje declared. He recalled how Kwankwaso once mocked the APC and even dismissed President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 campaigns.
The former APC chairman argued that Kwankwaso has shown no consistency in politics, describing his moves as unstable and self-serving. Ganduje also said reconciliation with Kwankwaso and other Kano political leaders was possible if the need for unity arose.
Turning to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Ganduje accused his successor of running a government without direction. He alleged that Yusuf’s administration was wasting funds, probing past leaders without results, and failing to deliver meaningful projects to the people of Kano.
On his own removal as APC chairman, Ganduje said it was a matter of political rotation, stressing that President Tinubu had no personal hand in it.
He maintained that the APC remains Nigeria’s biggest political platform despite a few defections.
As at press time, neither Kwankwaso nor Governor Yusuf had responded to Ganduje’s outburst.
Recall that in May this year, Ganduje and Kwankwaso clashed openly when the NNPP-led Kano government began a probe into alleged corruption under Ganduje’s tenure. This further deepens the rivalry between both camps.
However, there are high indications Kwankwaso is expected to decamp to APC.
