As part of activities marking his first anniversary in office, Councilor representing ward 4 in Ijebu ode Local Government, Hon. Jamiu Kolawole Adebukanla has launched a free eye-testing initiative aimed at improving the eye health of residents across his constituency.
The programme, which commenced on Thursday, drew a large turnout of constituents who expressed gratitude for the gesture.
Infopalavanews.com reports that Medical personnel were on ground to conduct eye examinations, issue prescriptions, and provide Subsidized reading glasses and drugs to those in need.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Adebunkanla said the initiative was part of his commitment to prioritizing healthcare and ensuring that essential medical services reach his constituents.
He noted that many residents live with untreated eye conditions due to financial constraints, stressing that early diagnosis and treatment can prevent long-term complications.
“This initiative is a way of giving back and ensuring our people have access to quality healthcare. Good vision is essential for productivity, learning, and overall well-being. We will continue to implement programmes that touch lives directly,” he said.
Mrs Shade Omogidi and Alhaji Basiru Anibi who are beneficiaries of the free eye test commended the lawmaker for the project, describing it as timely and impactful.
The free eye test is part of the 3 days program activities to mark the 1 year anniversary of the Lawmaker in office as Quiz and Debate competition, Seminar on ICT and 5 aside football will follow respectively on Friday and Saturday.
