AKARIGBO HOSTS COURSE 34 NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE MEMBERS




The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, has hosted distinguished members of Course 34 of the National Defense College (NDC), Abuja.


The visit formed part of the participants’ study tour of Ogun State, focused on gaining insights into the State’s security framework, peace-building initiatives and community development efforts—key components of the National Defense College’s mandate to equip senior officers with a deep understanding of Nigeria’s governance and socio-political dynamics.


Receiving the delegation in his palace office in Sagamu, the Akarigbo expressed admiration and profound respect for the officers’ intellectual capacity and unwavering dedication to national service. He commended the NDC for its pivotal role in strengthening national security and nurturing strategic leadership, noting that institutions of such standards are vital in sustaining peace, stability and national progress.


Oba Ajayi, emphasised the need for stronger collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies, stating:


“As custodians of our people’s values and welfare, the traditional institutions are integral partners in promoting harmony, intelligence sharing and ensuring grassroots stability across our great country,” he said.


Speaking on behalf of the Course 34 participants, the Team Leader, Air Commodore Edward Oluokun, outlined the college’s mission, strategic objectives and its significance in shaping defence policy, refining national security architecture   and promoting global military cooperation. He reiterated the college’s commitment to building a more secured nation positioned for effective engagement on the international stage.


Also during the event, the Onirolu of Irolu Remo, His Royal Majesty Oba Sikirulahi Adeyiga, offered heartfelt prayers for the visiting officers, raising divine guidance for their assignments and wishing continued peace and prosperity for Remoland and Ogun State.


The high-level engagement was facilitated by the Bureau of Political Affairs and Administration, with the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, Mr. Jide Adejumo—represented by the Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr. Sikiru Bakare and the Chief Protocol Officer, Mr. Gbenga Adekoya.


Traditional rulers who were with the Akarigbo included; the Elepe of Epe, Oba Adewale Osiberu; the Radanuwa of Idado, Oba Musiliu Soile; and the Bamofin of Remoland, Chief Adebayo Onafuwa,
