Authorities of Ijebu Ode Local Government Led By Hon. Dare Alebiosu, has ban the use of firearms during the upcoming festive season, citing concerns over public safety and the need to maintain order during the celebrations.

The use of firearms and its associated accessories have been banned in Ijebu Ode local government during the upcoming yuletide season due to the concerns about public safety and security consciousness and the need to maintain orderliness during the festival.

The proclamation was made public by the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Dare Alebiosu at the council secretariat, Ijebu-Ode while addressing stakeholders on the need to curb incidents of fire outbreaks, injuries and unrest that could typically accompany indiscriminate use of explosives during the Christmas and New Year festival.    

 In his word “All Categories of fireworks-commonly known as bangers, firecrackers, knockout and related explosive materials are banned. Security personnel have been mobilized to enforce the order across major neighborhoods, markets and recreational centers within the Local Government Area.” The LG Boss said.

The Council Boss however said that the measures would be temporary and aimed solely at ensuring a peaceful, incident-free festive period for all.
