I Will Continue to Prioritize Youth Development in My Constituency — Hon. Adebukanla



The lawmaker representing Ward 4 in Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Jamiu Kolawole Adebukanla, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to youth development, describing it as a central pillar of his legislative agenda.


Speaking with our correspondent during a 5-aside football tournament organized to commemorate his first year in office, Hon. Adebukanla emphasized that the growth, empowerment, and active engagement of young people remain essential to the progress of his constituency and the nation.


He noted that the football tournament was designed to foster unity, promote love, and encourage social interaction among youths. 



“Meaningful investment in young people is the most effective way to secure a prosperous future, I will continue to prioritize youth development in my constituency. Young people are our greatest asset, and it is our responsibility to create opportunities that allow them to thrive,” he added.


Highlighting some of his youth-focused initiatives, he recalled efforts such as quiz and debate competitions for primary school pupils, as well as ICT training to enhance their digital literacy, particularly in the use of Microsoft Word.


Hon. Adebukanla also listed other programmes he has undertaken, including the donation of First Aid kits to primary schools, free eye tests and medical outreach, educational support, entrepreneurship empowerment, and sports development.


He further revealed that more projects and partnerships aimed at enhancing youth capacity are already in the pipeline.


The lawmaker assured residents of his continuous commitment to policies and initiatives that will reduce unemployment, encourage innovation, and prepare young people for leadership roles.


“My goal is to ensure that every young person in this constituency has access to opportunities that can transform their lives. We will not relent in pursuing programmes that uplift and empower them,” he said.


Hon. Adebukanla called on private organizations and stakeholders to collaborate in supporting youth-focused initiatives, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved when young people are equipped with the right tools to succeed.


Infopalavanews reports that, as part of the three-day programme celebrating Hon. Adebukanla’s one year in office, over 300 residents benefited from the free eye test. Day 2 featured quiz and debate competitions involving four primary schools in the constituency, alongside ICT training. Joke Taiwo Primary School emerged winner of the quiz competition, with Otubu Memorial Primary School coming second. In the debate contest, Otubu Memorial Primary School took first place, while St. Michael Primary School secured second position.


Day 3 featured the 5-aside football tournament, where Success FC emerged champions, while Paramount FC finished as runners-up.


The event also included the presentation of recognition awards to distinguished personalities, including the Leader of the 10th Legislative Council, Hon. Sesan Adenaike, among others.
