The Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development (MPPUP) has continued its enforcement exercise to Local Governments in the Yewa axis of the State, the exercise meant to rid the State off illegal structures and shanties.
The Commissioner in the Ministry, TPL Olatunji Odunlami made this known during an enforcement exercise at Ilaro and Oja Odan areas of Yewa land.
Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Physical Planning and Enforcement, Mr Babatunde Olugbewesa, the Commissioner decried the alarming rate at which structures were built without proper documentation and failure to comply with rules and regulations guiding the Ogun State Urban and Physical Planning Development law 2022.
He maintained that the goal of the agency was to ensure the construction of safe buildings targeted at maintaining zero tolerance for building collapse in the State, stressing the importance of engaging relevant professionals in the construction and supervision of building development to avoid the menace of building collapse across the State.
The Commissioner submitted that structures were sealed and condoned for not complying with regulations and for not obtaining necessary planning and development permit before embarking on construction, urging everyone to comply with the rules which was in tandem with the Mantra of the State government.
