OGUN SUBEB VALIDATES PARTNERSHIP WITH PUBLIC COMPLAINTS COMMISSION

Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, has restated the Board’s commitment to work with the Public Complaints Commission in order to advance mediation and conflict resolution within the basic education sector.

Ifede gave the assurance while receiving a delegation from the Commission in his office at the SUBEB Secretariat, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, describing the Commission’s work as essential to restoring peace and harmony wherever disputes arose, noting that its interventions had strengthened fairness and administrative justice.

In his welcome address, Board Secretary, Mr Olubori Akinleye, highlighted the importance of the Commission’s mandate, explaining that the commission served as a platform for citizens to present grievances and receive timely intervention. He added that the Ogun State Government remained open to collaboration that would improve public service delivery and enhance transparency across the education sector.

In his response, the Federal Commissioner, representing Ogun State at the Commission, Hon. Morakinyo Akinleye, stated that the Commission was established in 1975 and strengthened under the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, saying that it was empowered to address administrative injustice and promote accountability in public institutions.

Akinleye noted that the Commission had handled complaints related to unfair treatment, abuse of office, undue delays and other forms of maladministration, emphasising that it played a vital role in protecting vulnerable citizens, particularly those who could not afford legal services, by providing free avenue for seeking administrative and social justice.

Mr. Akinleye stated that the State had continued to distinguish itself among the thirty six states and the Federal Capital Territory through its proactive engagement and administrative excellence.

He finally gave the assurance that the Commission would continue to perform its statutory responsibilities by mediating between government agencies and individuals whenever required, thereby strengthening public trust, deepening accountability and promoting good governance across the State.
