A  popular philanthropist in Ogun State, Chief(Mrs) Basirat Shonekan Umaru has been installed as Iyalode of Fajol, Obantoko, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The installation which took place on Saturday at Fajol, Obantoko, Abeokuta had in attendance Chiefs and Baale of the community, dignitaries within and outside Ogun State.

The Baale of the community,  Chief Atanda Sabiu Afuape in his speech said the chieftaincy title was bestowed on Sonekan as result of her significant contribution and dedication to the development of the community.

He also maintained that the chieftaincy title was in appreciation of her positive impact, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of humanity and community progress. 

Chief Sabiu Afuape maintained that Sonekan has been following the foot steps of her late mother in making the community proud, describing her as a woman of good virtue.

He noted that they found him worthy of the title because she deserves it.

"We are here to install a philanthropist, a woman of good virtue, Chief  Basirat Sonekan Umaru as the Iyalode of Fajol, Obantoko Abeokuta. We found her worthy of the title because of her significant contribution to humanity and empowerment of the youths in the community. She is a grassroots person and lover of the people. She deserves the chieftaincy title and that is why we have installed her as Iyalode of Fajol, Obantoko, we have the belief that she will not disappoint us and continue to make us proud"

Meanwhile, the leader of Fajol, Obantoko, Chief Adewale Adeyemi congratulated Chief Basirat Shonekan on his installation, saying that she is an incredible woman.

He said that the youths in the community are behind her because of her love to the youths.

The Youth leader said Chief Basirat Shonekan has never disappointed the people of the community, adding that she is a woman who cares for the well-being of his people.

Chief Basirat Shonekan Umaru in her remarks appreciated the community for finding her worthy of the title, saying that she will not disappoint them.

She said she is more committed towards the development of the community and empowerment of the youths.

The new Iyalode of Fajol,  Obantoko added that her administration will empower more youths and ensure well-being of the residents.
