The Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, on Friday led other top government officials and political leaders to the grand celebration marking the 50th anniversary of Ogun State in Ijebu North Local Government Area.

Also present at the colourful event were the House Representative member representing Ijebu North, Waterside and Ijebu East, Hon. Joseph Adegbesan; Former Deputy Governor and Senator, Sen. Segun Kaka, Executive Director for Finance, Southwest Development Commission, Hon. Tele Ogunjobi, Former Commissioner for Health, Hon. Babatunde Ipaye and the Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Hon. Bolaji Odusanya, alongside other political office holders, traditional rulers, party leaders, and community stakeholders.

The celebration, which formed part of activities commemorating Ogun State’s golden jubilee, drew a large turnout of residents, party faithful, youth and women groups, artisans, market leaders, and members of various community associations across Ijebu North.

Speaking at the event, the SSG, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, described the 50th anniversary as a milestone that reflects Ogun State’s rich history, resilience, and steady progress over the decades. 

He commended the people of Ijebu North for their contributions to the growth and development of the state and urged them to sustain their support for the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Talabi noted that the present administration has continued to prioritise inclusive governance, infrastructural development, economic growth, and social welfare, stressing that the dividends of democracy are being extended to communities across the state, including Ijebu North.

Other speakers, including Hon. Tele Ogunjobi, Hon. Babatunde Ipaye and Hon. Adegbesan, highlighted key achievements of the Abiodun-led administration in areas such as housing, industrial development, road infrastructure, and job creation. 

They reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that development reaches all parts of the state.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Hon. Bolaji Odusanya, expressed appreciation to the state government for its continuous support and impactful projects within the local government area. 

He described the golden jubilee celebration as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to grassroots development.

The event featured Distribution of Helmets to Okada riders and writing materials to all individuals at the venue, music, and dance displays that showcased the rich heritage of the Ijebu people. 

Some of the Residents who spoke with our correspondent expressed optimism about the future of Ijebu North and Ogun State at large, noting that the golden jubilee celebration serves as a reminder of past achievements and a call to collective responsibility in building a more prosperous state for future generations.
