Omo-Iwa Sponsors WASSCE Fees for 50 Students, Supports 80 Others with Educational Materials

As part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of Ogun State, Member Representing Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, Honourable Barrister Femi Ogunbanwo, popularly known as Omo-Iwa, has sponsored the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) registration fees for 50 students and provided educational materials for an additional 80 students in Ijebu Central Federal Constituency.

The intervention underscores Ogunbanwo’s long-standing commitment to education and youth development, which he describes as a critical investment in the future leadership of the state and the nation.

Speaking on the initiative, Omo-Iwa said every child deserves a fair opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background. “Every child deserves a fair chance to dream and succeed and should be supported in the actualisation of their aspirations. With a heart committed to the future of our children, I have paid in cash the WAEC fees of 50 students in Ijebu Central Federal Constituency and supported another 80 with educational materials,” he stated.

He explained that the gesture was inspired by his personal life experiences, having lost his father at the age of eight and understanding firsthand the challenges faced by children from less-privileged homes. According to him, the initiative is driven by compassion and a desire to ease the burden on families struggling to meet educational expenses.

Ogunbanwo further noted that the programme is part of his foundation’s sustained efforts to promote access to quality education and empower young people across Ijebu Central Federal Constituency. He described the support as one element of a broader mission to assist young Nigerians whose academic ambitions are often limited by financial hardship.

By offsetting the cost of WAEC registration and providing essential learning materials, Omo-Iwa said the initiative aims to give beneficiaries a fair opportunity to pursue tertiary education and compete on equal footing with their peers.
